Hey guys. I just spent a few hours with the Ubiquiti AirLink website which uses Topo maps to verify the viability of a potential point to point broadband link and I think I've found some potential locations that will work for the Hamnet. The goal today was to find a way to link people in Fort Bragg and the Albion area to the node on Laughlin which will serve Ukiah and Redwood Valley. A link from Laughlin directly to Mathison Peak will work just fine (Screenshot Below) However to get to Fort Bragg will require an extra link. From Laughlin we have a clear shot to Cahto Peak near Laytonville (SS Below) Then from Cahto we can reach Bald Hill near Fort Bragg Operators in the Fort Bragg area should be able to reach Bald hill just fine and there's already an array of antenna towers up there, maybe we can get permission to put a couple small nodes up on Bald Hill?

KM6SHY has a good number of solar panels for a great price. I think we should pick them up for our remote links. A friend with SeaKay broadband also has some used Ubiquiti Hardware for us cheap. We may want to all pitch in a certain amount of money to purchase certain key hardware for this endeavor. Tim, WB9NJS has a large number of Linksys WRT54G Model routers and is willing to donate around 10 of them to the project. If anyone wants some of these for testing, experimenting or putting up a mesh in your neighborhood please let me know.

Rick KK6PZA has done some extensive research on attaching external antennas to the Linksys Routers which can add pretty high gain to those household devices. A 2.4Ghz Antenna Analyzer and any RP-TNC low loss wire or adapters will probably be very helpful if anyone knows of anything like that please let us know!
